Year: 2005
This book has been written for anyone who wants to achieve his or her health fitness goals. Whilst it has chapters dealing with both exercise and nutrition, it is NOT a diet or exercise book. The subject of this book is how to program your brain to achieve your goals. Every action and subsequent result begins with a thought. By changing the way you think, you change the way you act, the results you get and ultimately the way you feel about yourself and your life. We all behave according to our internal programming, much of it installed early in our childhood. Such programming determines our beliefs, habits and self-identity. This book will explain methods by which you can discard negative, limiting programs and replace them with positive, empowering ones that have been used by others to achieve incredible results.

ISBN: 2080301489
Pages: 376
Year: 2010
A glimpse inside the unique worlds of rich cultural heritage, tradition, and splendour. Many historic houses in Paris serve as residences to foreign ambassadors; these majestic sites are closed to the general public. From a seventeenth-century hôtel particulier, to a Belle Epoque palace, to a distinctively contemporary setting, each residence rivals the next in its beauty, art collection, and period furniture set against a backdrop of accomplished refinement. From China and Peru to Egypt and Poland, Alain Stella invites us over the threshold inside the most prestigious chancelleries and ambassadorial residences in Paris. Tapestries inspired by Goyas drawings grace the lavish salons at the Spanish residence. Jean Prouvé and Charlotte Perriand created a minimalist interior at the Japanese residence that evokes the refined style of a traditional Japanese home. The palace of Eugène de Beauharnaishome to the German ambassadors since 1818retains its elaborate Empire style, intact since the time of Josephine. Superb photographs, specially commissioned for this book over the course of a year, divulge the secrets of these previously unpublished artistic and architectural treasures.

Publisher: HarperCollins Entertainment
ISBN: 0007234562
Pages: 124
Year: 2006
Matt Groening, the toastmaster of trick or treat, offers up a ghastly good time of Halloween howl-arity based on the especially popular anthology episodes of the TV series. Matt Groening whips up a witches' brouhaha of haunted clown cars, possessed cereal boxes, haunted hospitals, afterlife-binding cocktail napkin IOUs, ring-driven fellowships, neighbourly vampires and costumed comic book guys. Add a revenge-filled bottle of Amontillado, and a rippingly good yarn from merry and bloody olde England, and you have a pleasingly putrid and asphxiatingly amusing tome of tonsil-tickling terror from The Simpsons.
Creating Dominance

Creating Dominance

Author: Edward Wesemann
Publisher: AuthorHouse
ISBN: 1425966950
Pages: 128
Year: 2006-09
Dominance is an integral aspect of strategy. Strategy, whether in war, sports or business, is about how one can place themselves in a competitive position that gives them an advantage over competitors. If that position can be made so overwhelming by one competitor that others are effectively taken out of effective competition, that competitor is dominant. Dominance wins. The game is over. Everyone else is playing for second place or lower. Creating Dominance describes how successful law firms have gone about dominating their marketplaces - be they a practice area, a city or an industry. The book begins by describing the characteristics that identify a dominant firm and the precise strategies law firms can use to put themselves in a position of dominance.

Georges Cuvier (1769-1832) was a brilliant, influential, and powerful figure in natural science in the early nineteenth century, particularly famous for his work with the fossils of quadrupeds and his ability to reconstruct entire skeletal structures on the basis of a few fragments. Like many of his colleagues, Cuvier opposed evolution and yet, as a scientist, he could not ignore the evidence of past extinctions. Thus, he proposed that the history of the earth was characterized by a series of major calamities which had wiped out almost all creatures on the earth. The latest of these disasters occurred a few thousand years ago. The Discourse on the Revolutionary Upheavals was originally the introduction to an important book on quadruped fossils, but its popularity soon led to its being printed and translated as a separate volume. In it Cuvier sets down an argument for his views on the history the earth, a position that has come to be known as Catastrophism. However, the Discourse is more than a fascinating picture of the state of natural science in the years before Darwin's work, for it offers an enormously wide-ranging exploration of what we can learn about the history of human society from mythology, astrology, astronomy, and literature from all of the world's cultures to which Cuvier had access. Ian Johnston's fluent new translation of this landmark in the history of science also includes Cuvier's essay On the Ibis, in which Cuvier resolves a long dispute about the identity of this ancient bird.
